December’s Xbox One update will be smaller thanprevious updates of Microsoft’s monthly platform updates, according to Head of Xbox Phil Spencer. Spencer told IGN, “In December, it’s probably a time for us to pause for a little bit and settle just as all the new consoles are coming online.”
Because of the holiday rush, Xbox One’s screenshot feature won’t arrive until 2015. “As we come back into the new year, we’ll see new stuff, and screenshots is on the list,” Spencer said.
He joked that he pesters the platform team, “We can do video, how hard can it be to just grab a frame of the video?” But they don’t want to just clip from a video, and neither do players. “It’s a little more technically challenging than I thought. Two weeks ago, they think they’ve found a good solution for screenshots. They’re working on it. They know people want it. The team has a path to getting it done, and now it’s just prioritizing.”
Spencer also emphasized that Microsoft continues to work on improving the install times on Xbox One, and that it’s a priority for him personally.
